While this tool is never recommended for straight cuts that will be seamed, a jigsaw can work well enough for making sink cutouts where the rough edges will be hidden by the sink flange. If you want, the rough edges left by the jigsaw blade can be smoothed with a power sander.
What do you cut Corian countertops with?
You can use a fine-tooth circular saw to cut Corian, a carbide blade with 80 to 100 teeth being ideal. If you have fewer teeth (for example, a standard 40-tooth blade), use masking tape on the Corian to reduce splintering.
Can I cut Corian with a grinder?
Yes, you can cut it. Use an angle grinder with a masonry blade. I have seen it cut with a jigsaw as well, and a circular saw for flat pieces, but I prefer the angle grinder for this type of job. Cut it slightly long, then use a belt sander to take it down to your exact line and smooth the cut edge.
Can I cut Corian with a Dremel?
Dremel rotary tools are very useful when working with Corian, especially using the tools with the Dremel router base. That essentially turns the Dremel into a small router, which is ideal for cleaning up edges cut into Corian with other tools. Whenever a Dremel is used with Corian, it should be with a carbide bit.
What kind of saw blade to use to cut Corian?
You can use any kind of circular saw to cut Corian, but the blade has to be a triple chip blade made out of tungsten carbide. Any other sawblade can damage your Corian or your circular saw.
