Social media users have reacted to the news of the death of the 6-year-old boy who was hit with a baseball bat by a neighbor.

Jeremy Tang Diaz, a 6-year-old Texas boy, remains hospitalized more than a week after he was allegedly attacked by a neighbor in his own home.

The neighbour, 39-year-old Daniel Logan, is accused of injuring a child and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

What happened to Jeremy Diaz?

On September 11, at approximately 5 a.m., Logan allegedly broke into the family’s residence in the 300 block of Rock Mill Loop.

Armed with a baseball bat, Logan hit 6-year-old Diaz in the head and attempted to attack his parents, Yilin and Arturo, too. The attack left the young boy with critical injuries that resulted in him falling into a coma.

Court documents reveal that Diaz sustained multiple injuries, including extensive brain swelling and fractures to his brain, after being bashed in the head with the baseball bat.

Prior to breaking into his neighbors’ home, Logan had also reportedly assaulted his own mother, Cynthia, with the baseball bat. Cynthia suffered injuries, including a broken tooth, a facial laceration, and periorbital edema around her left eye.

What were the charges against Daniel Logan?

Daniel Logan was arrested and charged with injury to a child and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, both of which are considered first-degree felonies.

The incident is currently under investigation, and authorities are working to determine Logan’s motives behind the attack, which remains unknown at this time.

Jeremy Diaz went into coma

Jeremy Diaz continues to remain in a coma as of Monday morning, September 18, according to the GoFundMe campaign set up for his support.

“As of this morning, the doctors are puzzled at the unexpected movements he is showing in all his limbs, as it was not expected,” his father wrote.

The campaign has successfully raised over $200,000 towards its initial goal of $250,000. He is scheduled for further examinations, including an MRI, to assess his condition and aid in his recovery.

Jeremy Diaz dies

According to his father’s GoFundMe page, 6-year-old Jeremy Diaz, who was hospitalised for weeks following a neighborhood boy’s baseball bat attack, passed away early on Tuesday.

Jeremy’s father, Arturo Diaz, stated that he noticed his pale face, non-moving eyes, and stopped heart when he went to check on the boy on Tuesday morning. According to Arturo Diaz, attempts at resuscitation by hospital personnel were unsuccessful.
