Plenty of high-pressure readings are caused by suction air leaks before or at the pump level. Because of the air leak, more pressure has to be exerted to push dirty water through the filtration system. Over time, this will reduce the flow of clean water into the swimming pool.
What is the normal setting for a pool pump?
The “Filter” setting circulates water through the sand or DE media, then out the filter through the return port to the pool. This is the standard setting for normal pump and filter operation. The “Backwash” setting redirects the flow of water backwards through the filter media to flush out contaminants.
Why is PSI low on pool pump?
CLOGGED PIPE GOING TO THE PUMP (Low PSI) – A clogged pipe from the skimmer, suction line or main drain reduces the amount of water to the pump which can reduce water flow to the pump and create low water pressure out the return lines.
At what PSI should I backwash my pool?
8-10 psi
How Often Should I Backwash? A good rule of thumb is to backwash once the pressure displayed on your pressure gauge is 8-10 psi over the starting level. Backwashing after heavy rains, treating for algae, or when trying to clear cloudy water will keep your filter working efficiently.
What should my pool pump and filter pressure be?
I know this is kind of a vague question..but I just want to get an Idea of where I should be sitting on the reading of my pressure gauge. Pool pump and filter are about 22 feet away from the pool. Same level..plumbed with 1 1/2″ PVC pipe. I just started my pump and filter system up yesterday and the pressure gauge is reading 14 PSI.
What should the pressure be on a dual speed pool pump?
This is not the origional pressure gauge but it does go back to zero when the pool is off. The gauge is on top of the filter. I have a 2 hp dual speed pump but my pressure is only 3 psi on low and about 17 psi on high, is 3 psi not enough? It appears to circulate the water ok.
What should the PSI be in a swimming pool?
Every swimming pool is different when it comes to this. Unfortunately, there isn’t one specific number that represents a normal reading. A number of factors from the size of the pool and plumbing to equipment and water level affect the PSI of your pressure gauge. With that being said, a normal reading is actually really easy to calculate.
How often does the pool pump pressure go down?
Hi, I have been a member for about 1.5 years here and running into a strange situation with the pool pump. I usually have to open the filter and take out the 4-cartridge filter and hose it down every 6 months or so, when the pressure gets up to around 30 psi. Then afterwards it goes down to around 14-17 psi.
